Try to chat with your local representatives lately? Though some now use twitter, Facebook and other popular social media, it hardly sparks new ideas from the people.
It is sad that in this day and age that we are left to submit a contact form or send a letter, hoping not to get a "one size fits all" response, let alone an actual thoughtful heart-felt position that takes into account anything you asked them.
Why is it our public employees who spend their time on recess supposedly "talking with constituents" aren't much much much more accessible to their constituents for addressing their issues.
Sadly most politicians are on an endless PR campaign hoping to keep their job by not rocking the boat to much in any direction.
Would it not be in our best interest to encourage public debate, perhaps having them address publicly, on their own time, the issues the public puts forth to them?
Is it not the most convenient way, to do it online, through verified contacts, on an open public website grouped in a way that only verified constituents could petition those they have elected?
Why is this not already the case. Could it be they fear the people and the questions that they CAN'T Answer?
